On June 25, 2025 I, Deputy Scott #555 working for Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office was enroute with Deputy Healy #541 to the reisdence of [40 BLOCK] Luke Quarles. Deputy Healy was dispatched to a sexual assualt that had taken place at the residence. We were enroute code three, lights and sirens along with Cpl. White #530.
Once we arrived to the residence we observed two young girls huddled together near the road hysterically crying. We asked where the male subject was and they stated he was inside the residence. I escorted the two females to my patrol vehicle and told them to sit in the back while we went to the home. When we approached the residence the male subject, Lane Turner, exited the home with his hands in the air. Deputy Healy ordered him to turn around and put his hands behind his back. Deputy Healy handcuffed his hands behind his back, checked for fit and doubled locked.r stated there was no one else in the home. Cpl White and I went inside the residence to clear the home for any other people, which there was none. When we went back outside we escorted Mr. Turner to Deputy Healy’s patrol vehicle where he was placed in the back seat.
I went back to my vehicle to speak to the two female juvenile about the incident. J1 stated her father dropped her off at the residence to stay the night with her friend, J2. J2’s mom, Ms. [REDACTED] and her wife left around 7pm to pick someone up from the airport. Later in the night Mr. Turner, J1 and J2 were hanging out in J2’s room on her bed. Mr. Turner began touching her breast and trying to take off her shirt and bra. She told him to stop and J2 also stated to him to stop. He kept touching J1 on top of her clothing and underneath. At one point he even put his hands down her pants placing his figners inside her vag*na. She kept asking her friend to tell him to stop, when J2 told him to stop he refused. J2 left the room to go to the bathroom. While she was in there Mr. Turner and J1 were still on the bed. He began kissing her and whispering in her ear to “to let him put it in”, but she refused. He told her if she told anyone about this he was going to kill her.
J1 has a large burise mark on the left side of her neck which she stated was from Mr. Turner’s mouth. When J2 came back in the room, J1 asked her to come with her to the bathroom. As she was texting her friend, Ms. [WITNESS #1], about the incident Mr. Turner came into the bathroom. He pulled his pants and underwear down exposing himself to the two females. The females pushed away from him falling into the bathtub, yelling at him to leave or they were going to call the cops. After he walked out, both females ran outside to get away. J1 called [WITNESS #1] again to let her know what was going on and to come get her. [WITNESS #1] then called the Sheriff’s Office to report the incident while she was headed to the residence. Both females went to the road to wait for [WITNESS #1] to arrive. Mr. Turner came outside asking for them to come back inside to talk to him; when they didn’t he went back inside. Shortly after we arrived on scene, [WITNESS #1] arrived and gave a statment to Deputy Healy.
Cpl White requested dispatch to contact on call CID, Detective Sipple #593, to have them place me a phone call. I spoke to Det. Sipple on the phone about the incident, I explained the details of what both females stated. Detective Sipple stated that I make contact with guardians of both females and explain the process. She advised me on information that I needed to gather and to let them know a Detective will be reaching out to them in the next couple of days.
J2 mother, Ms. [REDACTED], arrived at the residence while I was on the phone with Det. Sipple. Deputy Healy went over the incident and advised her of the process over the next couple of days for Mr. Turner and J2. J2 was released into the custody of her mother at the residence. I tried to call J1’s father multiple times while at the scene but his phone went straight to voicemail. I requested dispatch contact Pickens County dispatch and have a deputy go to the residence to make contact with her father. I then transported J1 back to the Sheriff’s Office with me, having her friend follow us. Mr. Turner was transporter to Gilmer County Detention Center by Deputy Healy, he was turned over to the detention staff without incident.
Once we arrived at the office, we continued to place phone calls to J1’s father. Dispatched advised that the Picken’s deputy made no contact with anyone at the residence. Dispatch tried to call her father a two more times, they could not make contact. [WITNESS #1] called the father’s phone many more times and texted, still no contact was made. During this time We were in contact with Det. Sipple to keep her updated on contacting J1’s guardian. During this time Det. Sipple was on speaker on my phone and spoke with J1. She explained the process of having a exam done to collect physical evidence from Mr. Turner. She asked J1 if that was something she would want to do, at the time she was not sure. J1 later advised me she did not want to go to have the exam completed, I then relayed that to Det. Sipple. After a couple of hours of J1 and [WITNESS #1] sitting in the offiice and not being able to get in contact with her father, Det. Sipple advised me to let J1 go back to Ball Ground with [WITNESS #1]. Every effort was exhausted in trying to find another relative to make contact with.
Mr. Turner was charged with O.C.G.A 16-6-4 Child Molestation; with other charges pending.
