On September 28, 2025 (Sunday) I, PFC Young, was dispatched to 501 Redmond Rd, Rome, GA 30165 (Advent Health Redmond) in reference to a violent patient.
Upon arrival, I spoke with the complainant/victim [VICTIM #1]. [VICTIM #1] advised that he was completing a transport of Thomas Dixon, who was intoxicated, and were attempting to turn him over to the hospital. However, Thomas continued to scream, curse, and threaten to hit several individuals. While attempting to get Thomas into a room, he allegedly punched [VICTIM #1] in the face causing a small laceration on the inside of his cheek. I checked [VICTIM #1]’s mouth and he did have a minor laceration which I documented on body camera.
I spoke with [WITNESS #1], who is a member of the hospital staff attempting to check Thomas in. [WITNESS #1] confirmed that they were attempted to check Thomas in when Thomas suddenly punched [VICTIM #1] in the face while they were trying to get him on the hospital bed. [VICTIM #1] and [WITNESS #1] both advised that [VICTIM #1] then shoved Thomas onto the bed and left the room to await us.
I went inside the room to speak with Thomas. I walked in and greeted Thomas, who was laying on the bed with his face covered. He smelled strongly of an alcoholic beverage. When Thomas realized I was a police officer, he sighed and rolled in the bed as if defeated. I asked what happened and he immediately began yelling that [VICTIM #1] had shoved him down and punched him in the ear. I did not see any visible injury on Thomas. I advised Thomas witnesses stated he punched [VICTIM #1] and he stated he punched him because he shoved him down.
At this time, I told Thomas to stand up and place his hands behind his back. He did so and I placed him in handcuffs, double locked them, checked them for fit, and advised he was under arrest. I escorted Thomas outside to my patrol vehicle where he was searched incident to arrest and secured in the vehicle. I then transported Thomas to the Floyd County Jail where he was booked without incident.
