On 09/27/2025 I, Deputy Heptinstall, was in the area of Highway 382 assisting with the search of a Bolo Vehicle (Be on the lookout) that was involved in a hit and run in the area of Highway 382 at Sunlight Rd. The description of the bolo vehicle was a black truck with a Ladder rack on top with front end damage.
While driving down Richards Rd off of Luke Quarles Rd I observed a black truck with a ladder rack on top at a mobile home in the trailer park on Dogwood Village Pk. After I got closer to the driveway I noticed that the Black Toyota Tundra had front end damage matching the description of the bolo vehicle and as I was viewing the damage from the road, I observed a Hispanic Male stumble from the Driver’s Side door to the front of the vehicle.
I left my vehicle and attempted to make contact with the driver of the vehicle and as soon as he noticed my presence he attempted to put distance between myself and him by attempting to walk in the opposite direction. While instructing him to place his hands behind his back, I observed a strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming from him as he was attempting to speak but was slurring his speech while he was attempting to pull away from me. I allowed Demetrio to speak with his wife while waiting on Deputy Camp to arrive.
While Demetrio was speaking with her I noticed that his Eyes were blood shot and he continued to need assistance with standing due to him stumbling around and continued to slur his speech which is consistent with being under the influence of alcohol. After Deputy Camp #516 arrived on scene to assist, I placed Demetrio in the back of my Sheriff’s Office vehicle #1324 while I documented the damage and relayed the information to Deputy Knight #543 who was still currently on scene at Sunlight Rd working the accident that Demetrio had fled from.
Demetrio Chuc placed under arrest and transported to Gilmer County Detention Center and turned over to detention staff. Cuffs Checked for fit and double locked.
Demetrio Chuc was placed under arrest and Cited for the following:
