Today, September 7th 2025, I, Deputy Michael Healy #541, along with Deputy Chris Jump #545, Sergeant (SGT) Melissa Blaylock, and Corporal (CPL) Scott White #530, responded to a male subject, later identified as [VICTIM #1], who reported that he had been beat up, shot at, and was laying in a ditch approximately at 0200 hours. Gilmer County Communications advised that the male subject was going in and out of conciousness and was unable to provide an accurate location of where he was located. I responded Code 1 (No Lights and Sirens) due to other units already being in proximity to the subject.
Before my arrival, Gilmer County Communications Center heard the subject speaking to them over the phone. During the call, Mr. [VICTIM #1] said “I can’t hold on no more.”, and that he was going to go after who did this. Mr. [VICTIM #1] also stated he was thrown from a vehicle at approximately 100 miles per hour.
Upon my arrival, I exited patrol car #621 and activated my BWC (Body Worn Camera). CPL White located Mr. [VICTIM #1] laying face down in the ditch across from the address of [1200 BLOCK] Roundtop Road. I approached Mr. [VICTIM #1] and asked if he wanted a bottle of water to which he agreed, and I layed it down by his side. I asked him what happened to him for him to end up face down in the ditch. Mr. [VICTIM #1] advised that he was thrown from a truck and he landed there. I asked him if he knew who’s truck he was in, to which he responded he did not. I asked him if he knew who he was riding with, to which he responded he did not. During our breif conversation, Mr. [VICTIM #1] was incoherent and was dipping in and out of conciousness. Also, Mr. [VICTIM #1] appeared to be bleeding from his upper left arm and his left eye and mouth area were severily bruised, swollen, and bleeding.
At this point, EMS arrived and I helped them get Mr. [VICTIM #1] onto the stretcher and into the back of the ambulance. After I assisted EMS, I began to photograph the scene of where Mr. [VICTIM #1] was laying with my BWC. After photographing the scene, I went back to the ambulance to ask Mr. [VICTIM #1] for consent to take his cell phone for evidence. Upon asking Mr. [VICTIM #1] agreed. I then took Mr. [VICTIM #1]’s cell phone which was properly packaged and processed for evidence under Receipt #19878 and placed in Evidence Locker #4. While I did this, Deputy Jump made contact with the home owner of [1200 BLOCK] Roundtop Road, [WITNESS #1]. Deputy Jump asked Mrs. [WITNESS #1] if she had any cameras on her property, to which she agreed.
Mrs. [WITNESS #1] informed Deputy Jump that the footage can be gotten from the company by calling the phone number, [REDACTED]. After Deputy Jump gathered this information, he relayed it to me. During this time, the ambulance began there transport of Mr. [VICTIM #1] from our location to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta GA, and they left the scene. After this, units left the scene. After units left the scene CPL White and SGT Blaylock went to the address of [700 BLOCK] Whitepath Springs Road, to attempt to notify the parents of Mr. [VICTIM #1] of his condition.
Also to note, there was an unknown subject reporting that they saw on facebook that a fight had taken place at a waffle house parking lot around the same time that Mr. [VICTIM #1] was found on the side of the road. The fight was unconfirmed. The manger at the Waffle House on Highland Crossing Road, [REDACTED], can access the cameras at the business. The phone number for Mr. [REDACTED] is [REDACTED].
