On October 10, 2025, at approximately 01:02 a.m. I, Corporal Z. Weaver, was dispatched to [20 BLOCK] Sanford Lane in reference to a fight in progress. I responded code 1, no lights or siren, to the scene along with Sgt. Blaylock, Corporal White, Deputy Healey, and Deputy Howard. Dispatch informed us shortly after going enroute to the scene that all parties were separated and that they were also dispatching a med unit to the scene due to the victim complaining of possibly broken ribs and difficulty breathing. Sgt. Blaylock and Deputy Healey were first to arrive on scene followed by myself and Corporal White.
Upon my arrival at Sanford Lane I observed a white passenger car attempting to back out on the road. I blocked the driver in due to the possibility of them being involved in the incident due to the proximity of the address that we were dispatched to. I activated by agency issued body camera and made contact with the driver who was identified as [WITNESS #1] and three minor children in the vehicle.
I asked [WITNESS #1] if she knew what was going on and she said that all she knew was that she heard some sort of commotion at the top of the hill. While speaking with [WITNESS #1] I noticed that she was very reluctant to give any sort of answers and appeared to be nervous. While I was speaking with [WITNESS #1], Corporal White continued to where Sgt. Blaylock and Deputy Healey were located. I then waited with [WITNESS #1] to ensure that she was not connected to the incident. A few minutes later Corporal White informed me that she was involved.
I then told [WITNESS #1] that it was being told to us that she was involved in the incident and I asked her again what happened. [WITNESS #1] said that she had brought her twin daughters to visit with their father, Nick Ledford (Robert Nicholas Ledford), and that while she was there, he started accusing her of sleeping around with another individual who was also there. I asked [WITNESS #1] who Nick was saying that she was sleeping with, and she stated [VICTIM #1].
I asked what happened after that and [WITNESS #1] told me that the argument had taken place while they and the minor children were in the bedroom and that Nick had told her to stay in there and then left the room. [WITNESS #1] said that Nicks brother, Chris Ledford (
Herman Christopher Ledford
), was also present at the residence and that when Nick left the room, she heard some sort of commotion outside on the porch. [WITNESS #1] said that she could not make out what was being said or what actually occurred on the porch but did know that it involved Nick, Chris, and [VICTIM #1].
I asked [WITNESS #1] if Nick and Chris were still at the house and she said that she did not see them leave. I then informed the other units of this information. Corporal White and Deputy Howard then returned to my location to help look for Nick and Chris. When we approached the house where the incident occurred looking for Nick and Chris, I noticed a brown canoe laying on its side with the interior facing away from view. I checked behind the canoe to make sure there was no one there and found a white male with no shirt, wearing blue jeans and tennis shoes, laying prone behind the canoe.
As soon as I made contact with him he stated “you found me” and stretched his arms out in front of him. I alerted Corporal White and Deputy Howard to the presence of the individual and Corporal White came around the other side of the canoe and placed him in handcuffs. After doing so and patting him down for weapons we asked his name and he said that his name was Chris.
At this time Sgt. Blaylock and Deputy Healey arrived to assist and Chris was placed into the back of Deputy Healey’s patrol car. While escorting Chris to the patrol car I could smell a heavy odor of alcohol coming from him and the closer the car we got, he became more agitated. Corporal White read Chris miranda and asked if he would be willing to speak with us about the incident and Chris stated that he would not.
We then waited at the residence for the landlord, [REDACTED], to arrive to see about searching the house for Nick. While waiting I could hear a loud sound coming from the direction of Deputy Healey’s patrol car and it was Chris kicking the partition inside the vehicle. The decision was made not to search the residence and to go ahead and transport Chris to the jail.
I asked Sgt. Blaylock about what the victim, [VICTIM #1], had told her and Deputy Healey and she said that he told her that he was on the front porch when Chris and Nick came outside and began accusing him of sleeping with [WITNESS #1]. [VICTIM #1] told her that he kept denying any involvement with [WITNESS #1] and that Chris and Nick then began assaulting him. He said that they pushed him into the side of the railing of the porch and grabbed him by his head, attempted to choke him and pull him inside the residence. [VICTIM #1] said that he was able to get away from them and ran up the hill to obtain assistance.
Sgt. Blaylock said that while speaking to him he was complaining about his ribs being broken and was having a hard time breathing. Sgt. Blaylock said that she was able to observe an obvious injury to [VICTIM #1] side and it was confirmed from the EMT units on scene. [VICTIM #1] was transported to Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper. After leaving the scene I called and spoke to personnel in the emergency room in jasper where they confirmed that [VICTIM #1] had a pneumothorax injury (deflated lung) on the side where he indicated he was injured and was possibly about to have a chest tube put in due the injury.
Herman Christopher Ledford was arrested on scene for aggravated battery.
A warrant was taken on Robert Nicholas Ledford for aggravated battery.
